Democratic Legislative Intern
General Description
State Representative Rebekah Warren is a progressive Democrat from the 53rd House District, which is composed of the majority of the city of Ann Arbor (including the University of Michigan).  She is currently seeking one-two legislative interns to assist in all the responsibilities of running a busy and effective Lansing office.  Responsibilities will include answering phones, filing and assisting with general office work, researching and responding to constituent concerns and inquires, researching policy issues, conducting community outreach and attending student and community events.  Additional responsibilities will include writing tributes, thank you and congratulatory notes, clipping newspaper articles and data entry.  Hours are negotiable.  If living in District, travel to Lansing available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays.  
 
Salary Range
Unpaid, school credit available
 
Minimum Qualifications
Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, dependability, attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Must possess the ability to interact professionally with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to adapt to a very dynamic environment. Previous office experience, letter writing skills and knowledge of the Legislature and legislative process is a plus, but not required. Commitment to the values and ideals of the Democratic Party. Competency with Microsoft Office is required.
