Legislative Intern

Office: Speaker Leonard

Caucus: Republican

Description: The office of Speaker Tom Leonard of the 93rd District is currently seeking internship applications for the 2018 winter/spring semester.  Interns will be expected to provide assistance to the Speaker and his staff in general office operations ranging in the areas of legislation, communications, constituent affairs, general office management and miscellaneous tasks.  Some responsibilities will include answering phones, monitoring legislation, research and written correspondence to groups and individuals within the 93rd District.  Interns will gain valuable hands-on office experience in a fast-paced environment. 

Schedule: Hours are negotiable although availability on Session days (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) is preferred.

Salary Range: This is an unpaid position, but college credit is possible. (See your school’s Internship Coordinator or Academic Advisor.)

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be a student, veteran, or participant in job entry program.  Strong applicants will have a positive attitude, previous office experience including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, as well as excellent telephone and writing skills.  Knowledge of the Legislature is desired but not required.  Applicants should have a writing sample and references available upon request.
